Classic Hummus Recipe

Ingredients :

– 1 can (15 ounces) chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained and rinsed
– 1/4 cup tahini (sesame seed paste)
– 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for drizzling)
– 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
– 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
– Salt, to taste
– Water, as needed for consistency
– Optional: Paprika or sumac for garnish
– Optional: Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Preparation :

1. Blend the Ingredients :
– In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin (if using), and salt. Blend until the mixture is smooth.

2. Add Water for Consistency:
– If the hummus is too thick, add water a tablespoon at a time, blending until you reach your desired creamy consistency.

3. Adjust Seasoning:
– Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt, lemon juice, or garlic as needed.

4. Serve:
– Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with paprika or sumac, and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

5. Enjoy:
– Serve the hummus with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or crackers for dipping.

Enjoy your delicious, homemade hummus! It’s a healthy and flavorful dip perfect for snacking or as part of a mezze platter.
